Barn Dance and Music Sessions

The Door County Folk Alliance strives to introduce more people to country folk music and dance. One way we do this is by holding open "sessions" of folk music. These sessions are open to anyone who wishes to participate, either by joining in with your own instruments or just listening to traditional public domain folk tunes. Another is through Barn Dances, which incorporates a variety of folk dance styles, lead by a caller, as a way to bring the community together and learn traditional barn dance alongside catchy folk tunes!

Music Sessions

Our traditional music sessions meet Saturday afternoons from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Starboard Brewing, 151 N. 3rd Ave. in downtown Sturgeon Bay. We will generally meet on the first Saturday of the month. The schedule for the upcoming sessions is coming soon. Sessions are not performances, but informal gatherings to play music together and perhaps sing a sea shanty or two. They are open to all. Barn Dance

Folk Alliance dances are free community events, alcohol free, and family friendly. (We do however ask that children who wish to participate are mature, e.g., 7-8 years old, enough to listen and follow instructions and are under the supervision of a parent/guardian.) Come with or without a partner; singles are welcome. All dances are taught by a caller, and no previous experience is necessary.
